Mortgage counseling

One-on-one counseling is available from NHS Brooklyn’s HUD-certified housing counselors, who are professionals in assisting homeowners with all phases of having a mortgage. Click the links below if you:

• Are you behind with your mortgage and are in foreclosure (or fear you soon will be) and need a loan modification or other relief

• Had a lien put on your home for water or property tax arrears

• Would like to refinance your mortgage

• Are a senior with equity in your home and are considering a reverse mortgage

• ​Have questions about home insurance, flood insurance, or flood risk.

Referrals for free legal consultation and other services are also available.

Free Educational Webinars

• Most months, we offer free Mortgage Update webinars that you may attend if you have questions about your mortgage, foreclosure, or other mortgage matter.

• We also periodically have webinars on reverse mortgage, refinancing, lowering property taxes, home maintenance tips, home repair grants and loans, how to work with a contractor, and more.

• In addition, we offer monthly educational webinars on financial coaching and credit improvement, home insurance, flood insurance, and emergency preparedness.

• Landlord Training is also available twice a month for a modest fee.
