The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has announced that registration is now open for those interested in working as Emergency Snow Laborers for the upcoming winter season. Emergency Snow Laborers are per-diem workers who shovel snow and clear ice from bus stops, crosswalks, fire hydrants and step streets around the five boroughs after heavy snowfalls.

Register to apply for Snow Laborer positions at your local Sanitation garage, weekdays between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm. You may also register at select Department of Transportation (DOT) locations. DOT offices will be open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Click here or the image above for a complete list of DSNY and DOT registration locations.

Snow laborers earn $15.00 per hour to start and $22.50 per hour after 40 hours are worked in a week. Snow laborers must be at least 18 years of age, eligible to work in the United States, and capable of performing heavy physical labor.

Bring ALL of the following with you at the time of registration:

º Two (2) small photos (1½-inch square) º Original and copy of two forms of identification º Social Security card
